What is Your Favorite Business?

Think about your favorite restaurant. Where do you like to shop for clothes? Are there any places where you love to spend money? Your goal is to acheive that level of favored status with your clients and customers. How do you do that? Look to your favorites for some clues.

  1. How do they make you feel? Write down the words that come to mind. Welcome. Appreciated. Special. Warm. Happy. They make me laugh. They make me feel important. Now look at your list. How can you make your customers feel that way?
  2. Where does price fit into your feelings about your favorite shopping venues? Chances are they are not the cheapest and they are not the most expensive. Chances are when you go to your favorite restaurant, the owner doesnʼt tell you that heʼll meet or beat any price. Iʼm guessing the owner shows some pride in the business, the food, the service and the value that they are delivering. Do you?
  3. Why would you suggest your favorites to someone else? I bet itʼs because you believe in what they do, how they do it and how they make you feel about it. You believe that others who trust your opinion will experience the same thing.

Now. Donʼt just read this article. Take some time and actually write down your answers. Gather your team and discuss, “how do you make them feel?” Charge for your service fairly and donʼt apologize or start bidding against yourself. If youʼre not getting referrals, how can you up your game so that you do?

The answers to “how do you become your customersʼ favorite” are going to be the same answers as the ones above.
